Did I mention I love watching TV shows or movies that involve espionage, terrorism, military, action… I did? Yeah, well, I get these alzheimer’s attacks every now and then and I forget so…
Anyway, so I’m writing a blog on a love affair, my love affair, so I’ll just get down to it.
Story begins with the concept of PHR for Hot Intruder. My bff Angel Bautista had just had her HI novel published at the time and because of a trailer for the TV series Burn Notice, I thought of throwing her what I thought was a nice premise for a second take on HI.
The trailer showed Michael Western (actor Jeffrey Donovan) standing behind a woman, telling her that he was there because someone was sent to kill her. Assuming that Michael was there to protect her, she gasps, Who? Michael took a second before answering, Me.
‘Di ba? Magandang konsepto for Hot Intruder? But bff tells me, ikaw na lang magsulat. And I say, sige, pwede siguro but, okay lang ba ang HI na babae ang intruder? I thought I wanted a woman intruder para maiba naman. She said hindi pa daw. I just nodded.
I don’t exactly remember anymore how our conversation then ended. But I did end up writing the story. For MSV. With the intruder being a woman.
That was about a year ago. And sometime last month, I was told this story will be lined up soon as part of a new imprint. Which I don’t know if I can discuss for now so I’ll just leave it at that.
We’ve managed to come up with a title for this particular piece… Memories of Israel. Far cry from what I gave it when I submitted the manuscript. Far better cry than the one I came up with.
There is no official publication of the excerpt just yet. I’m sorry, I have no intention of preempting MSV for this. But I promise, I’ll post it as soon as it’s up on the Bookware site. And I’ll also tell the rest of the trivia to go with it. 🙂
Hope to see you again. 🙂
