All About PETA

August 22, 2016 • Leave a Comment

That’s the Philippine Educational Theater Association, not the animal rights group. 😉

Okay, just a quick rundown of the exciting things to expect from this excellent theater group.

*** PRECIOUS PELIKULA ***

In April 2016, Precious Pages Corp., the publisher of Precious Hearts Romances, called on amateur filmmakers nationwide to participate in this momentous project. A total of 40 applicants, from students to film enthusiasts sent in their portfolio in the hopes of being able to enter the competition. Ten out of the 40 were shortlisted. They chose from a selection of PHR titles on which they formulated a film concept as out-of-the-box as they could while still maintaining the romantic personality that Precious Hearts Romances has embodied. From their pitches, five applicants and a ‘wild card’ were granted a much-coveted spot. Each were given P15,000 to produce their respective films by August 12, 2016.

Welcome to the Majestic Stormdome

Welcome to the future Philippines.

70 years ago, extreme weather and the threat of global war led the government to construct The Stormdome, a fallout shelter that covers the entire archipelago, blotting out the sky. The Stormdome is covered in solar panels while LED lights on its underside diffuse electricity back to the people. The Stormdome is also equipped with millions of hidden cameras that keep track of the citizens and maintain peace and order.

Two barkadas will clash inside The Stormdome: the kids form glossy and developed Lumino City led by smug slacker Chino, and the kids from the rough streets of Diliman City led by fiery trouble-maker Sol. Despite their varied backgrounds and upbringing, both groups must realize that there are larger problems in Pinasland than their petty gang issues.

3 Stars and a Sun offers a dystopian look at what our future can come to if the problems of the present are left unresolved. Featuring visionary master rapper Francis Magalona’s music, the play aims to serve as a cautionary tale and a challenge to today’s youth to act together and act swiftly before it’s too late.

DONOR CAMPAIGN

Fellow romance writer Angel Bautista has launched a campaign to bring 300 street children to see the show. Dubbed THE ANGELS CAMPAIGN TO BRING MAGIC TO 300 CHILDREN, we call on all kind-hearted individuals to either volunteer as a member of the staff for the show, or to sponsor at least one child. The project is slated for the 10am performance on November 15, 2014.

Need further details? You may email jette1013[at]yahoo[dot]com or send me or Angel a private message via Facebook. All donors and volunteers will receive this one-of-a-kind token of appreciation.

Share magic this Christmas! Be a Santa for the less fortunate children. And have a Blessed Christmas as early as November! 🙂
