i learned something new… or maybe not new. i might have known for some time but i’ve kinda forgotten i knew.

what we have always thought of as the maya bird is actually called the Eurasian Tree Sparrow

this bird pala, the Black-headed Munia, is actually the Philippine Maya.

but since the black-headed Munia is not endemic to the Philippines, we changed our national bird to the Philippine Eagle.
